TO ALL CITY COMMERCIAL WATER CONSUMERS:

City of Potosi Ordinance #627 establishing Cross Connection Control requires backflow prevention devices on each service line or wherever a connection is made to the City water system. Section 25-65 of the Potosi Code of Ordinances as amended by Ordinance No. 954 on November 5, 2007, now requires that all such devices be inspected and tested for tightness during the month of January of each year by a Missouri certified backflow prevention device tester. The cost of all tests and inspections shall be at the expense of the consumer. State of Missouri DNR regulations require both the consumer and the City to maintain copies of these test records. This ordinance also requires more detailed inspections every thirty months for double check valve assemblies and every five years for reduced pressure principal backflow prevention devices.

IN ORDER TO MEET THIS REQUIREMENT, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE YOUR DEVICE INSPECTED DURING THE MONTH OF JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2024.

Two (2) copies of the inspection report must be submitted to Mr. Johnny Hicks, Water Superintendent, no later than March 1, 2024.

If your device was installed after July 1, 2023, and a report has been submitted to the City, you do not have to have your device inspected until January 2025.

Should you have any questions or need further assistance with this matter, please contact my office at 573-438-2767.

Sincerely,

Johnny Hicks

Water Superintendent
